Book Review - Forgive Me by Stacy Campbell

Posted on August 13, 2014 at 12:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Forgive Me: A NovelForgive Me: A Novel by Stacy Campbell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was not surprised when I began to read this book and found myself immediately engaged and engrossed in the story line. I've come to expect the best from the best, and let me tell you, Stacy Campbell is one of the best writers ever to dare to pick up a pen. This book was storytelling at its finest. If you read her debut, you are in for a treat with this one. Ms. Campbell did not disappoint and when I finished reading this book, my only question was: Where is this woman's award? Believe me, she deserves one.

Thank you, Stacy Campbell, for penning such an excellent, gripping story. I can't wait to see what you come up with next!!

Audrey Hepburn, Chrisette Michele, and a FREE book

Posted on August 6, 2014 at 9:15 AM Comments comments (0)

I am a Chrisette Michele fan. I love her voice, have bought almost all of her albums. I love her style, her quirkiness, her individuality. I follow her on Twitter, am a proud member of her Rich Hipster movement (rich in art and rich in heart). I also love that she releases mix tapes from time to time and offers them for FREE to her fans. I have also downloaded and enjoyed them.

Her most recent mix tape blew me away. It is titled Audrey Hepburn: An Audiovisual Presentation.

Here's my favorite song from the mix tape:

Inspired by the iconic actress, Chrisette Michele created music and videos using her own money and time. She shot photos for an album cover, created a track listing, and offered the whole thing as a FREE download. The music and videos are of the highest quality. One would never know they weren't studio-backed. Now this impressed me. That she would take her own money and create something so well put together with the express intention of giving it away? That just blew my mind. That's when an idea hit me.

Why can't I do the same thing?

Why can't I write a book, create a nice cover, and a book trailer, advertise it, and offer it for FREE on my website. Instead of running a free promo on amazon or offering it as a perma free book on eBook platforms, I would offer it as a FREE PDF download on my website. There would be no pressure to make any bestseller's lists, no concern with numbers at all. No reviews, good or bad, to face. I would simply be giving my work away as a gift to my wonderful readers. Who could beat that?!

Then I took it a step further. Why not make this book a part of a series that sells extremely well? Now that would truly be a gift!

So that's what I did. I wrote a novella and titled it If (it is another prequel to my Been So Long series), had it edited, created a book cover and a trailer just as I would any other book I released. Then I made it available for FREE on my website. (I did the same with my other Been So Long prequel, Rapture, but eventually uploaded it for sale on eBook platforms.) If is still available on my website as is a FREE poetry collection and a non-fiction anthology. All can be found on my FREE READS page.

So you see, inspiration can come from anywhere and let me tell you, there is freedom in giving the gift of art to those who appreciate it.

Cover Reveal - CHRONICLES OF A LINCOLN PARK FASHIONISTA by Aven Ellis

Posted on August 1, 2014 at 7:20 AM Comments comments (0)

About the Book:

Genre: Chick Lit

~ Cover Designer ~

Christy Caughie

~ SYNOPSIS ~

Recent college graduate Avery Andrews is ready to begin a new life in the big city. She’s landed an apartment in Chicago’s famed Lincoln Park neighborhood–and has her eye on the cute commodities trader just a floor above.

If Premier Airlines knew about her fear of flying, they never would have hired her to be their marketing assistant—but it’s not like Avery wants a lifelong career. Right now she simply wants a job to pay her bills…and fund a few little shopping excursions, too.

Her new lifestyle comes with a price tag, as Avery is not only faced with paying a ridiculous rent but finds she’s perceived as one of the vacant, husband-hunting fashionistas who live in the area. Avery resents this stereotype—so she doesn’t want a lifelong career, and she loves fashions she can’t afford, but that doesn’t mean she is empty-headed and spoiled, does it?

When an opportunity to participate in a documentary at work arises, Avery finds a two-fold solution to her problems. She’ll earn extra money for it, and the documentary will show her as a serious career woman, enabling her to shed that husband-hunting fashionista label for good.

When the camera is on, Avery attempts to be a motivated professional woman. But when she is challenged by Deacon Ryan, the videographer assigned to cover her story, Avery finds herself wanting things she was never supposed to want—like a lasting career—and Deacon. And Avery might just gain more from the experience than a perfect career image and extra cash to put in her Tory Burch wallet…

About the Author:

Aven Ellis has been writing fiction since she was sixteen. She studied communications at a large Midwestern university, and after graduation, Aven worked as a reporter for a community newspaper, followed by a stint at a public relations agency.

But writing about city council meetings and restaurant franchises was not as much fun as writing for young women trying to figure out their careers and potential boyfriends. So Aven got herself a job in television that allowed her to write at night. Connectivity is Aven’s debut novel; Waiting For Prince Harry and Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista (New Adult romantic comedy) will be published next year.

Aven lives in Dallas with her family. When she is not writing, Aven enjoys shopping, cooking, connecting with friends on social media, and watching any show that features Gordon Ramsay.
