Today I'm interviewing an awesome author. I've read both of her works and thoroughly enjoyed them. Get to know Author Cathy Jo!
1. Why do you write?
I write to understand who I am. There’s a certain amount of therapy, a healing, when it comes to writing. For me, getting it out of my head and onto that piece of paper allows me to examine what’s going on from all possible angles. And once I do that, the healing process can begin. I also write to understand the world around me.
2. What was the last book you read?
I’m currently reading several books; however, the last book I completed is titled, HisLove.com, by Allyson Deese.
3. Coffee or tea?
4. What's your favorite love story? (movie or book)
I’m not really a love story sort of gal. But if I had to choose one, I’d say the movie, Sleepless in Seattle.
5. If I wasn't afraid I would ________
I would shirk all my responsibilities and do nothing but write 24/7.
6. Someday, I want to ________
7. What is the best thing you have done in your life?
The best thing I’ve ever done was to make the decision to dedicate my life to God and put his will first.
8. List five adjectives to describe yourself.
Gregarious, picky, insightful, compassionate, loving.
9. Name one thing that drives you crazy.
Racial prejudice. It not only drives me crazy, it incenses me.
10. If you were a professional wrestler, what would your ring name be and why?
Ha! If I were a professional wrestler, my name would be Love Tapper. Why? Because I’d never hit you hard enough to hurt you.
11. Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
I don’t know that there is a movie title that I could relate to the story of my life, but there is a song title that comes close: Tears of a Clown, which, incidentally, is the title of a book I’m working on.
12. What's your passion?
Writing, of course.
13. Describe your writing style in one word.
14. Tell us about your next project.
Currently, I’m working on a book that’s tentatively titled, Promise Me You Won’t. It’s the story of Cashmere Masters and Lonnie Parker. Both of these characters are from my book of short stories, Transitions: short stories for a rainy day. And you catch up with them in my current book, No More Expectations. Cashmere is dealing with a health crisis. Although she yearns for a relationship, her illness prevents her from becoming seriously involved with anyone. Until Lonnie. Lonnie is reeling from a tragic event that’s left him more distrustful of women than ever. Until Cashmere. So the question they are both faced with is this: Will they allow the mistakes of the past to prevent them from finding what they each need in order to reap the rewards of the present, so that they can discover if they have a future? I’m shooting for a summer 2014 release date.
